Charge at Home, on Your Schedule
If you drive an electric vehicle, you already know the math: charging at home is faster, cheaper, and a lot less inconvenient than hunting for a public station. A Level 2 home charger gives you 20–30 miles of range per hour of charging overnight, so you leave every morning with a full battery.
The Watts Up Electric team installs EV chargers across Southeast Wisconsin for all major makes and models like Tesla, Ford, GM, Rivian, and more. We’ll evaluate your current panel capacity, recommend the right charger for your setup, and handle the installation start to finish. If your panel needs an upgrade to support the charger, we take care of that too. One team, one call.
What’s Included:
- Level 2 EV charger installation (240V/
50A dedicated circuit) - Panel evaluation and capacity assessment
- NEMA outlet or hardwired charger installation
- Panel upgrades when additional capacity is needed
The Right Installation Makes All the Difference
Not every electrician knows EV charger installations the way they know standard residential work. The wiring requirements, load calculations, and panel considerations are specific to EV setups, and a mistake here can mean a charger that trips your breaker every time you plug in, or worse, a fire risk in your garage.
Watts Up Electric does this work the right way with proper circuit sizing, correct breaker specs, and a clean installation that meets code. We’ll also make sure your panel can handle the new load and if it can’t, we’ll be straight with you about what that upgrade looks like before we start. No surprises at the end of the job.
24-Hour Emergency Services Available
Some electrical issues can’t be scheduled for next week. If you’re dealing with a tripped main breaker, a burning smell, sparking outlets, or a complete loss of power, the Watts Up Electric team is available around the clock for emergency service calls across Southeast Wisconsin. We’ll send the same skilled team that handles our standard work, not a rotating on-call stranger.

EV Charger Installation FAQs
How long does it take to install a Level 2 home EV charger?
Most installations are done in a half day or less. If your panel has enough capacity and the garage is accessible, it’s a straightforward job. We’ll let you know up front if anything would extend the timeline.
Does my current electrical panel support an EV charger?
It depends on your panel’s age and capacity. Many homes in the Milwaukee and Waukesha area have panels that can handle the additional load. Some older homes need an upgrade first. Paul checks this during the estimate so there are no surprises.
What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 EV charging?
Level 1 charging uses a standard 120V outlet and adds roughly 3–5 miles of range per hour. Level 2 uses a 240V circuit and adds 20–30 miles per hour. For most EV drivers, Level 2 is the practical choice for daily use at home.
Can I install any brand of EV charger with Watts Up Electric?
Yes. We work with all major brands and vehicle types like Tesla, Ford, Chevy, Rivian, Hyundai, and more. We can also recommend chargers based on your vehicle and usage if you haven’t purchased one yet.
Is a permit required for EV charger installation in Wisconsin?
In most municipalities, yes a permit is required for new 240V circuit work. We handle the permitting process for you, so you don’t have to manage it yourself.
